Which is better:
Higher Cabin Cost and Lower Registration
or
Lower Cabin Cost and Higher Registration?

We all know that we plan for camp months ahead of time by reserving a cabin. In doing so we have set one of the largest budgeting  items in choosing a camp. We also know that there are many factors that affect the total number of campers that attend from your church. If you end up with a lower number of students than what you have budgeted for then, you end up loosing substantial amount of money because of the cabin cost. This is the problem with a camp with Higher Cabin but Lower Registration. However, registration is based on the amount of students that ACTUALLY attend the week of camp. This is why it is much better to have lower cabin cost and higher registration. Because registration is factored on a per person basis compared to cabin cost that is group wide.
The reason this is important because Summit Camps uses two campgrounds that churches rent cabins, KBA and GLBA. These campgrounds have cabins that the top price for a cabin is $1250 with the average cost of $500. There are some campgrounds that have cabins that easily rent for $5000 and the average is still much higher than the highest cabin that we provide. However, our registration cost is higher than some other camps because we are a self sufficient ministry. We hope this helps in making some decisions concerning Summit Camps. While budgeting is an important factor we believe that the experience that your group has at a Summit Camp is more important.

The scoop on deposits
Alumni/Security Deposit: Every church that comes to Summit Camps must pay a $100 security deposit to Summit to hold your alumni status from year to year. If for some reason your group is asked to return home (which we hope would never happen), they would lose this deposit, and if they wanted to return to Summit another year, they would need to again pay this deposit. Otherwise this deposit is held by Summit from year to year so that we know you will be returning and gives you alumni status. If at some time you chose not to return to Summit, this deposit is returned to you upon request. This deposit should only apply to NEW churches. If you are a returning church and have not paid this $100 deposit, you are not considered alumni until that deposit is paid.
Registration Deposit: Every church, including cabin owners, must send in a $200 non-refundable registration deposit when they secure a cabin. This registration deposit is part of the final registration costs that you pay when you come to camp this summer. The $200 is deducted from your registration costs that you pay based upon  the cost per person that you bring to camp. The $200 deposit must be postmarked by January 20.
Registration Deposit for 2008 - NEW GUIDELINES
All Churches that will be coming to Summit in 2008 will  need to provide a registration deposit of $200. This deposit given will go directly to your camp registration and will be deducted from your final bill at camp. The deposit MUST be postmarked by Jan. 20 or the church will lose their alumni status and have to pay a late fee of $100
Cabin Rental Deposit: Each cabin at KBA and Grand Lake Baptist Assembly is owned by individual churches or associations and have their own separate deposit for the church that rents their cabin. These deposits are paid directly to the church or to KBA/Grand Lake for the cabin rental. Summit has no control over the amount of this deposit as it is set by each individual church. This deposit check should be made out to the individual church rather than to Summit Camps.
